Start Dates for Winfield Street and Drainage Improvement Projects Set

Department of Public Works

City of Winfield

(620) 221-5520

Re: Street projects.

As part of a street and drainage improvement project, APAC-Kansas will be closing Fifth Avenue from Main Street to Loomis Street starting Monday August 14th, weather permitting. The work is to include open cutting the street to replace water lines and to install a new storm sewer system. The entire street section will be replaced during this project.

Fifth Avenue traffic will be routed around the area utilizing Fourth Avenue and Harter Street.  Property owners and businesses in the construction area normally using Fifth Avenue will need to access them from Fourth Avenue using Millington Street or the alley between Main and Millington.  It is estimated that this work will take five weeks to complete.

Starting August 16th, the west half of the College Street and Eighth Avenue intersection will be closed to improve safety at this location. Two-way traffic will be maintained on College Street.  It is anticipated that the west half of intersection will be closed for at least two weeks while the work progresses.
