Weekly Services

The City of Winfield offers weekly curbside recycling services. While the program is not mandatory, it is encouraged as a means to divert the amount of waste being hauled to the Cowley County Transfer Station.

The program is very convenient.  Simply place the recycling containers, or other box clearly marked "recycling", filled with recyclables at your curbside by 7:00 am on the same day your garbage is collected. The collection crews do the rest.

Collected recyclable materials are transported to the Arkansas City/Winfield Recycling Center located at 7th Ave. and "D" Street, Strother Field. The material is properly sorted, boxed or baled, and made available for shipment to the recovery contractor. The Center is open Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday by appointment only. Call 620-221-5678 with any questions concerning sanitation or recycling.

Acceptable recyclables include:
  • Aluminum cans
  • Corrugated cardboard boxes - flattened boxes, call ahead for large quantities
  • Glass jars or bottles (food & beverage only) - brown, green or clear - remove lids
  • Plastic - #1 PET (soda bottles) all colors; #2 HDPE (milk & juice jugs) frosted in color
