The Winfield City Commission consists of three Commissioners, who elect one Commissioner from that number each year as Mayor for the ensuing year. Regular city elections are held in each odd year and one Commissioner is elected for a two-year term and one Commissioner is elected for a four-year term of office. The person receiving the largest number of votes is elected to the four-year term and the person receiving the second largest number of votes is elected to the two-year term. Each city Commissioner receives as compensation, $600 per year, payable fifty dollars per month.
 
Meetings

The City Commission meets regularly in the Community Council Room on the first floor of the City Hall building, 200 E. Ninth, on the first and third Monday of each month, at 5:30 p.m. Work sessions, to discuss City issues and provide information to the public and City Commission, are held at 4:00 p.m. the Thursday prior to the regular Monday meeting in the same location as the regular meeting.
