Rules & Regulations
Rules and regulations are enforced by Lake Rangers and other authorized personnel to ensure the safety of and to assist visitors to the lake. To best enjoy the lake facility, please remember the following guidelines:
- All vehicles parked on Lake grounds must display an affixed recreation permit
- Off-road vehicles are prohibited.
- Lake QUIET hours are 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- Camp and park only in designated areas.
- Do not remove, destroy, or injure trees, shrubs, or any natural attraction.
- Place trash in containers or take it with you.
- Build fires only in designated places and grills.
- Put out fires before leaving.
- Do not discharge any type of firework.
- Respect other campers and fishers.
- Leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but photographs and memories when you leave.
- Do not tie animals or ropes for any purpose to trees.
Permits for Recreation & Boating
Recreation and boating permits may be obtained from the Lake Office, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. located at the south end of the dam, or at Winfield City Hall, 200 E. 9th Ave., during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Recreation Permits entitle all members of the household to enjoy the Lake facility. Remember all vehicles parked on Lake grounds must display a recreation permit. Annual permits require proof of registration for each vehicle at the time of purchase.

The price paid for a daily recreational license may be deducted from the price of an annual license if the annual license is purchased within seven days of the purchase date of the daily license. The same person who purchased the daily license must be the purchaser of the annual license and must provide the daily license at the time of purchase to an authorized representative of the city. A limit of one daily recreational license may be used to reduce the cost of an annual recreational license.
All licensees holding valid licenses, whether resident or non-resident, owning more than one vehicle, may obtain additional licenses for each vehicle in the same household. Additional licenses may be purchased for $10.00 each. All licensees must show proof of registration of such vehicle(s) when purchasing additional licenses.
Boating License Fees are required to operate boats on the Winfield City Lake. Fees are determined by the type of craft. Persons applying for a boating license are required to provide a general description of the craft, State registration number, and name and address of the owner. All applicants for craft licenses shall exhibit evidence of public liability insurance.

Remember:
- All personal watercraft, jet skis, wet bikes, wave runners, and similar vehicles will be restricted to a designated area to be marked by buoys on weekends, and at other times deemed necessary, to ensure public safety.
- All boats shall move about the Lake in a counter-clockwise direction.
- No boat wake in all coves.
- Life jackets shall be worn by all boat occupants ages 12 and under.
Boat and Trailer Storage
Boat and trailer storage is available on lake premises. Fee per space is $15.00 per month occupied.
Camping
At Winfield City Lake camper pads located on both sides of the lake offer water, electric, and sewer hookups for your camping needs. And for the ultimate in primitive camping, tents may be pitched anywhere for camping.

Water Skiing
Winfield City Lake offers wonderful opportunities to water ski. While water skiing is invited, please remember a few rules for the safety of all Lake visitors. All water skiing must operate in a counter clockwise direction. Skiing is allowed from one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset. Have at least two people in the boat, one to drive and one to watch the skier. If a watcher is not available, a wide-angle ski mirror is required. Remember, nothing beats common sense and courtesy.

Swimming
Swimming is permitted in the swimming beach area located on the north side of the Lake. The beach is closed from midnight to sunrise. No glass, alcoholic beverages, or animals are permitted on the beach.
Fishing
Abundant fish populations makes Winfield City Lake one of the best fishing spots in Kansas. A recreation permit and Kansas Fishing License are required to fish at the lake. Trotlines, juglines, limblines, and ice fishing are prohibited.
Hunting
During the State waterfowl season, designated areas of the Lake are open to hunting. In addition to State and Federal required licenses,hunters are required to purchase a Winfield City Lake hunting permit at a cost of $7.50 for Cowley County residents and $15.00 for non-residents.
A $50.00 refundable deposit is required for all blinds that are constructed on Lake grounds.
Only waterfowl may be hunted. Hunting of upland game birds, fur-bearing animals, deer, predatory animals, and the trapping of fur-bearing animals is prohibited.
