RECYCLING PROGRAM  

As of April 6, 2020, our current Recycling Program has been paused and will restart June 1, 2020.  Please note that w
eekly curbside pick-up of your recycling items will not occur during this time, click here for more details. 

In Winfield, weekly curbside pickup using City-issued carts will continue but be limited only to clean and dry corrugated cardboard. Paperboard product such as cereal boxes will not be accepted curbside.

The Arkansas City/Winfield Recycling Center located at 7th Avenue and D Street in Strother Field will be open for community drive-through drop-off from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays ONLY, starting June 5.  

The Recycling Center will be CLOSED on following City observed holidays:
  • New Year's Day- Friday, January 1st
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day - Saturday, January 16th (OPEN Friday, Jan. 15th)
  • President's Day - Saturday, February 13th (OPEN Friday, Feb. 12th)
  • Memorial Day - Friday, May 28th and Saturday, May 29th
  • Independence Day - Saturday, July 3rd (OPEN Friday, July 2nd)
  • Labor Day - Friday, September 3rd and Saturday, September 4th
  • Thanksgiving  - Friday, November 26th and Saturday, November 27th
  • Christmas - Friday, December 24th and Saturday, December 25th

The following clean, dry and sorted materials will be accepted in the following categories:
  • Plastics Bottles & Containers #1 & #2 (Milk Jugs, Soda Bottles, & Laundry Detergent)
  • Plastics Bottles & Containers #3 - #7 (Food Trays, Spray Bottles & Butter Tubs)
  • Aluminum Cans (Soda & Beer Cans)
  • Steel/Tin Cans (Soup & Vegetable Cans)
  • Mixed Paper (Newspaper, Magazines, Catalogs, Books, Phonebooks, & Junk Mail)
  • Paperboard (Cereal Box, Soda Pop Box’s, Packing Paper, Egg Cartons, & Etc.)
  • Corrugated Cardboard (Shipping Boxes, Pizza Boxes (Free of Food & Grease) or Moving Boxes)
  • Glass Bottles, Jugs & Jars (Any Color)
Unsorted or contaminated materials (e.g., food residues, yard waste, plastic bags, etc.) will not be accepted at the center at Strother Field.

For customers in Winfield who no longer wish to participate in the curbside program, please call the City's Operations Center at (620) 221-5500 and request your cart be picked up and deposit credited to your account.
